'Aqeeqah

1. What is the time limit for performing the haqueqat (Animal Sacrifice) rites for a newly born child?2. What are the animals that can be sacrificed? Whether a cattle can be sacrificed or not? If yes, can 1 cattle be sacrificed for 2 or more children?3. Do the conditions related to the Eid ul Adha Qurbani, be applied for the haqueqat? If not, what are the conditions related to haqueqat?

Dear Sheikh! Being a new Muslim, should I offer the Sunnah of `Aqeeqah which is due on any new Muslim born?

As-Salamu Alaykum,My question involves aqeeqah.  How long can you have one after the baby is born?  I have heard after 7, 14 or 21 days.  If you have a feast after these days must the animal be slaughtered on one of these days or can it be slaughtered after or at anytime?Also please insha'Allah can you provide me an answer for a second question on a different topic, I have read that Ali(raa) had other wives and kids after the death of Fatima(raa), is this true?Jazakum Allah Khyran.

Assalaamu Alaikum. My 10 yrs old son died of cancer last week. When he was born and the years he was growing up I hadnt the means to do his aqeeqah. Is it permissible to do it now? And should all the meat be shared to the poor as when you are doing sacrifice for a deceased?

As'salam Alaikum, I thank you for your wonderful website, it really does help to answer some fundemental questions. My question has been bothering me for sometime. At the present I am pregnant and I have been doing research on the proper Islamic way in celebrating the child's birth. My question is on many websites it says that from authentic hadith it says for a boy you have to slaughter 2 sheeps and for a girl it is one. But in Islam it says there is no difference between a boy and girl than can you please explain this hadith. My husband says in Morocco they slaughter one for either sex, so what is correct? Also, could you please clarify some of the rights for celebrating a child's birth because even some of them I am not clear were there orgins are from. Thank you so much. Wa'alaikum As'salam.

Allah blessed me with a baby girl but she died when she was two hours old. Should I offer `aqeeqah for her?

Dear scholars, As-Salamu `alaykum. I need to know the procedure for `Aqeeqah. My parents did an `Aqeeqah for my son on the seventh day of his birth. But the confusion is that we hadn't named our son yet. So, I am wondering if this `Aqeeqah was valid according to the Sunnah. Don't we have to say the name of the child (and the names of his parents?) when doing "Zabiha" (slaughter) of the two goats? If the name should have been said during "Zabiha", and it wasn't, then do we have to do the `Aqeeqah again? Also I understand that it's suggested that we do `Aqeeqah on the 7th day, but what's the limit to the age of the child? And also, since I have a six year old son, who hasn't been circumcised yet, what's the age limit on that? Your insight according to the Qur'an and Sunnah would be greatly appreciated.

Asalamulikum, My family learned about the Aqiqah ritual after many children. Is it too late for my family to do this? For the future, what is the exact Sunnah way of doing this ritual? Can someone just pay for Qurbani's oversees at the Eid Al-Adha?
