When the Fatwa doesn’t appeal to one’s heart
There are several popular hadiths indicating that the judgment that appeals to one’s heart and reassures one’s soul is given priority over the fatwa issued by a mufti, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: “Seek judgment from your heart.” That is to say, a layman may ask a question seeking a legal opinion, then he finds that the fatwa given to him by the mufti does by no means appeal to his heart. In this case, which of them should one follow; one's heart or the mufti?
