The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “There is nothing wrong as far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned, in conducting medical tests on mice and slaughtering them for the purpose of obtaining biological data that may be useful for developing a medicine to treat a certain disease.
Such animals were created to be in the service of man and thus there is nothing wrong in conducting medical tests on them and slaughtering them for the protection of man’s health against a certain disease or for the sake of developing useful agents to be used in medicine.
