It is actually the duty of every Muslim to avoid that which puts him in doubt and jeopardize his moral commitment and pure state of religiosity. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Al-Shinqiti, Director of the Islamic Center of South Plains, Lubbock, Texas, states the following: “As for reading horror novels or magic, if the person is wise and mature it is allowed for him or her to read them in order to know what they preach. But I would highly discourage children and teens to read them. Their parents should try their best to provide them with alternatives because prohibition would not only help in this regard.”
