Generally speaking, the Muslim student should try his best to seek a form of education that coincides with the teachings of Islam and does not put him in a defenseless position. We do acknowledge that these are very difficult situations for the Muslim student, who is studying in Europe to avoid. The case in question is a clear example of that. The Muslim student who faces this kind of difficulty is surely in a dilemma. Islam permits a Muslim to read such books as long as failing to read them will cause extreme hardship that cannot be avoided. With this in mind, the Muslim student should totally reject such false beliefs and falsified information.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states the following: “If a muslim student must study such works as part of their degree requirements, then they are allowed to read them,
In other words, students can read them as long as they reject what they assert and they are firmly grounded in your faith. This is in some way comparable to reading the statements in the Qur’an quoting pagans and tyrants such as Pharoah, Nimrod and Qarun.
So students should be clear in mind; reject all the un-Islamic and unethical concepts these works put in mind, and ask forgiveness from Allah so that they do not affect.
Moreover, students must pray to Allah using supplications such as the following as frequently as they can:
Allaahummaa yaa muqalliba al-quloobi thabbit qalbee alaa deenika; Allaahummaa yaa muqalliba al-quloobi thabbit qalbee alaa al-haqqi; Allaahummaa yaa muqalliba al-quloobi thabbit qalbee alaa taatika.
(O Allah! You are the One Who Turns the hearts! Make my heart firm on Your religion! You are the One Who Turns the hearts! Make my heart firm on the truth! You are the One Who Turns the hearts! Make my heart firm on Your obedience!)”
