Wearing platinum rings is permissible for Muslim men under Islamic jurisprudence, provided the adornment remains free from extravagance or vanity. Unlike gold and silk, which are strictly prohibited for male believers, alternative metals such as platinum fall under the general legal principle of original permissibility.
Guidelines on Precious Metals and Stones
Muslim jurists affirm that men may also wear jewellery set with diamonds or other precious stones. However, these items must not be worn with the intent of demonstrating arrogance, vanity, or superiority over others within the community.
The prohibition in male adornment remains strictly tied to gold and pure silk garments. Prophet Muhammad warned against these specific luxury items, stating:
“If anyone from my Ummah wears gold and dies wearing it, Allah will deny him the gold of Paradise. If anyone from my Ummah wears silk and dies wearing it, Allah will deny him the silk of Paradise” (Musnad Ahmad).
Therefore, precious metals like platinum remain entirely lawful when worn with modesty.
