First of all, we congratulate a convert for the guidance Allah has bestowed on him for becoming a Muslim. This is a great blessing for which no amount of word is sufficient to thank Allah for. Islam is the way to happy life in this world and to great reward in the Hereafter.
Secondly, a new convert needs to start equipping himself with sound knowledge of his religion and its teachings. Knowledge will keep him steadfast on the right path and will enable him to stand for the truth and call for it.
Thirdly, it is the duty of a convert to start with his parents and relatives and call them to the truth Allah has shown him and guided him to. This might take time as it might cause him some troubles. But by seeking the help of Allah and by being a good representative of Islam, his words will yield positive result.
Fourthly, a convert should know that no matter the amount of effort he invests in ensuring peoples guidance, it is Allah alone in whose Hands are the hearts of His servants. Abu Talib was the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he loved him and supported him against the disbelievers who wanted to harm him, but unfortunately he himself did not embrace Islam. instead, he died as a disbeliever. Though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) loved him and wished to save him, he could not do that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after his uncle’s death sought to seek Allah’s forgiveness for him, but Allah forbad his Prophet from doing this.
