As far as Islamic Shari`ah is concerned, there is nothing wrong in men and women sharing meals if the rules of mixing between people of the opposite sex are observed. For example, there should be no khalwah (illicit privacy between a man and woman). Also, both parties should lower their gaze while taking meals and the woman should be wearing hijab (dress code for Muslim women).
