Dr. Muhammad Abu Laylah, professor of the Islamic Studies & Comparative Religions at Al-Azhar Univ. states: “One pillar of our religious legislation is to accept what was revealed or made halal or haram in a preceding Shari`ah unless it violates something or is abrogated by Allah or His Prophet. The ruling applied by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not only according to the Jewish Shari`ah, but also in conformity with the Islamic Shari`ah. This does not mean that the Torah was not corrupt. Corruption means to alter or change in the Devine text. However, we believe also some genuine divine parts remained till today in the Torah. This is kept by Allah for us to be used as a proof that the Torah was corrupted thought it has some genuine rulings.”
Given the above, it becomes clear that we, Muslims, believe that the Torah has been corrupted. We also believe that it has something of divine nature that can be taken if it does not contradict our Shari`ah.
