Dealing with Nightmares:

Experiencing a horrifying or disturbing dream can be unsettling, but Islam provides clear islamic guidance on nightmares and how to respond. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us practical steps to take when we wake up after a bad dream. Here’s what to do:

  1. Seek refuge in Allah – The first step is to say, “A’oodho billahi mina ash-Shaitan ir-Rajeem” (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan). This simple yet powerful phrase protects you from the influence of Satan.
  2. Spit three times on your left side – This act is a recommended tradition that helps ward off any potential evil that could be associated with the disturbing dream.
  3. Do not share the dream – Avoid telling anyone about the bad dream, as sharing it may lead to unnecessary worry or harm. The Prophet (peace be upon him) advised against discussing unpleasant dreams to prevent spreading fear.

These steps are based on the teachings of the Prophet, and following them will help you navigate through unsettling dreams. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that if you have a good dream, it is from Allah and should only be shared with someone you trust. If the dream is unpleasant, seek protection from Allah and refrain from sharing it.

Preventing Black Magic and Spiritual Protection:

Islam offers several methods for spiritual protection, particularly against harmful forces such as black magic. Here are some practices that help shield you now and in the future:

  1. Recite Surah Al-Baqarah’s Last Two Verses – The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised that reciting the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah before sleeping will suffice for protection throughout the night. This practice is powerful in repelling harm.
  2. Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu’awwidhatayn – These three short chapters (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas) are known for their protective qualities. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would recite these before going to bed and would blow them into his hands, then wipe them over his body.
  3. Perform Ablution (Wudu) and Sleep on Your Right Side – Before going to bed, it is recommended to perform ablution as if preparing for prayer, lie on your right side, and recite a special supplication. This supplication expresses complete surrender to Allah and serves as a protection from harm, including black magic.
  4. Say Protective Duas (Supplications) – In addition to the recommended recitations before sleep, it is beneficial to say the following dua in the morning and evening for protection from the evil of the self and shaytaan (Satan): “Allahumma ‘Aalim al-ghaybi wa’l-shahaadah, Faatir as-samawaati wal-ard, Rabba kulli shay’in wa maleekahu, ashhadu an laa ilaaha illa anta. A’oodhi bika min sharri nafsi wa min sharr il-shaytaan wa sharakihi.” (O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil and traps of Satan.)

This dua, as taught by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), is a safeguard against all forms of evil, including black magic.

Conclusion:

Islam provides clear and practical guidance to protect oneself from both nightmares and black magic. By seeking refuge in Allah, following the Prophet’s teachings on spiritual cleanliness and protection, and reciting specific verses and supplications, Muslims can safeguard themselves from harmful forces. It’s important to maintain regular practice of these protective measures, as they ensure a peaceful and safeguarded life.

May Allah protect us all from harm and guide us to the best of health, peace, and security.
