As far as da`wah matters are concerned, a Muslim should observe the advice of the Qur’an in this regard; by making use of wisdom and good approach.
It is not an easy task; it is the work of Allah’s Prophets and Messengers, so one need to follow their path and be patient. Patience is extremely required just as sound knowledge is required.
Da`iyah, Zienab Mostafa, a prominent Muslim scholar and da`iyah, states,
When working with new converts, a Muslim should be very careful. Firstly, she should know that sisterhood bond is crucial and it can make many challenges easy to face. So, she should start with strengthening this bond very well and making sure the new converts are well connected with their Muslim community.
Secondly, she should try to make things easy for people and accept gradual improvement, rather than expecting total change to happen overnight. For salah for example, if some sisters have problems with Arabic, the sister handling them can simply start with surah al-Fatiha and go simple afterwards. She should them time to master and practice what they learn before moving to a further topic.
As for hijabthat some new converts might perceive difficult to use, graduality needs to be followed, and experiences needs to be shared. The more the faith in Allah is built in their hearts, the more they will be able to accept the challenge whenever they have to choose between Allah and anything else.
May Allah guide all of us to what pleases Him!
