Dr. Rif`at Fawzi, former professor of Shari`ah at Cairo Univ., states: “It is preferable to make `Aqeeqah for a new born baby on the seventh day as reported in the Prophet’s hadith. However, other than this preferable time, `Aqeeqah can be done any time to the extent that it is said that one who is old is advised to give `Aqeeqah for himself if his father did not make `Aqeeqah for him.”
