Believers often turn to the concept of healing in the Quran when facing persistent physical ailments, such as tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or vision problems, especially when conventional medicine offers limited relief. It is natural for a Muslim to seek comfort and cure (Shifa) through the words of Allah and the traditions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Islamic scholars emphasize that the Quran is a sacred book containing cures for various types of sickness and pain. However, they also highlight the necessity of combining spiritual remedies (Ruqyah) with professional medical consultation.

The Quran as a Source of Protection and Cure

Muslims are encouraged to allocate a portion of their daily time to recite the Holy Book to seek the protection of Allah from evils and physical distress.

Scholars specifically recommend the following chapters and verses for those seeking healing in the Quran and protection:

  • Ayat al-Kursi (Verse of the Throne): It is strongly recommended to recite this verse (Quran 2:255) frequently, especially after every obligatory prayer.
  • Surah Al-Baqarah and Aal `Imran: Regular recitation of the second and third chapters of the Quran brings immense blessings and protection.
  • The Three Quls: Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112), along with Al-Mu`awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas, Chapters 113 and 114), is a powerful means of seeking refuge and healing.

Daily Prophetic Supplications (Adhkar)

In addition to Quranic recitation, the Sunnah provides special supplications (Du’a) for daily activities. There are specific prayers for sleeping, eating, drinking, walking, traveling, and even marital relations.

These prayers act as a fortress, containing the beautiful names of the Almighty. Whoever continues to recite them ensures they remain under the constant protection of Allah in all their movements and activities.

Combining Spiritual and Medical Treatment

While relying on healing in the Quran is an act of faith, Islam fundamentally calls upon its followers to seek medication and cures from all possible means.

Prominent scholars advise that one should not neglect physical or psychological causes of illness. For ailments like persistent ringing in the ears or visual disturbances, consulting medical specialists—or even a psychiatrist if the issue is related to stress or perception—is a religious responsibility. A believer should utilize available medical treatments alongside divine sources such as the Quran and Hadith to achieve full recovery.
