The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “Islam does not ignore sexual instinct of a person. It is natural to have sexual thoughts and feelings. However, a Muslim is required not to indulge deeply in such thoughts or to imagine having sex with a certain woman/man. It should be clear that indulging deeply in such thoughts may lead to haram such as masturbation or watching pornography. Contrary to this, a Muslim should be keen to guide and control his sexual desire by fasting, making use of his time and indulging in good and beneficial activities and accompanying good and righteous friends and by getting married when one can afford for marriage.
