The prominent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal Nadvi, Director and Imam of Al-Falah Islamic Center, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, states: “Allah decides for everything, but there are asbab or causes that Almighty Allah make them lead to certain results. Our belief in divine decree means that the effect of these causes is decided by Almighty Allah because He is the One that created the cause and the effect.
Moreover, it is the human nature to feel good or bad and regret previous actions by looking at their results. Islam does not deny such human instinct but it teaches us to accept the destiny of Allah in the sense if something happened, it has been planned by Allah and it did not happen haphazardly. If it is something wrong we did, we need to regret and make tawbah (repentance) to Allah and take a pledge not to repeat it again, asking Allah’s help in this regard.
