The Qur’an is the Word of Allah. It is the most sacred book. Muslims must respect and honor this book. Our outward actions reflect our inner feelings of love, devotion, reverence and submission to the Words of our Lord. There is nothing wrong to take cell-phones having Qur’anic recordings on them into bathrooms.
Sheikh M. S. Al-Munajjid, a prominent Saudi Muslim lecturer and author states: “It is not haram (forbidden) to take these cell phones into bathrooms because they do not come under the same rulings as the Mus-haf (printed copy of the Qur’an). This is so, even after Qur’an has been recorded on them, because it is sound which is contained inside it, and not writing that is visible.”
