Dr Wael`Abdul-Mut`aal Shihab, a Shari`ah researcher at Al-Azhar University, stated: “If you apply any type of cream that prevents water from reaching the skin, then you have to remove it before you do your wudu’ or ghusl as long as you are not applying it for a medical necessity.
So, if you apply a given cream for protection against sun and it prevents water from reaching the skin of the organs that should be washed in wudu’, then you need to remove it so that your wudu’ be valid.”
