In times of tribulations, Muslims ought to unite and make use of all the available means to defend their positions. Muslims ought to be positive participants in all walks of life in the countries they live in. They should try their best to affect the public opinion so as to gain their rights and remove oppression done against them.
Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states the following: Muslims ought to remain united and steadfast in their adherence to Islamic principles. These are times of trials and tribulations; it is not at all different from the trials and tribulations that the Prophets of Allah faced in their own times.
I think we need to unite and join forces with all the peace-loving people of the country and the world to counter these repressive and unjust measures and policies by using all available legal and constitutional means.
We must come out of our own cocoons and participate in all aspects of the society, contributing in every way possible. In short, we must be at once proactive and creative in thinking up all sorts of constitutional methods of countering these measures. To give up the fight is to surrender and accept defeat. That is not at all viable Islamically or rationally.
Likewise, packing and leaving is also not a viable alternative. We have, therefore, no alternative but to remain steadfast and struggle against oppressive policies and get them changed.
