The eminent Muslim scholar and renowned Da`iyah, Sheikh `Abdel Khaliq Hasan Ash-Shareef, states: “There is nothing wrong for the wife to call her husband ‘father’ or ‘papa’ as a way of fondling or fun and showing respect towards him. There is no relation between this act of your wife and the Zhihar which is done from the part of the husband, not the wife, and requires major expiation (kaffarah mughallazhah). So, there is nothing wrong with what your wife did.
